Lawrence Turner built SSG from the ground up, starting in a spare room with two other employees and supported by a bank loan of £2,500. His impact on our organisation, our values, and the people who work here has been lasting.

Over the years, Lawrence remained immensely proud of what the organisation became, and we are grateful for the foundations he laid for all of us. After founding the business in 1964 and developing some of the NHS’s earliest nurse call systems, Lawrence led SSG to become one of the U.K.’s market leaders in nurse call systems and bedhead trunking.

“Lawrence was a gentleman in the truest sense of the word. He helped take SSG from the humblest of beginnings to where we are today. His influence and pioneering nature are still felt and embodied at SSG. Lawrence’s vision, leadership and unwavering commitment to excellence laid the foundations of the company and shaped its values for generations to come.

Beyond his professional achievements, Lawrence was a warm person who cared for everybody who worked in the SSG family. His legacy will continue to guide us as we carry forward the principles he instilled in the business.

On behalf of everyone at SSG, I extend our heartfelt condolences to Lawrence’s family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.”

– Richard Tew, Technical and Business Development Director

We extend our sincere condolences to Lawrence’s family: Adrian, Chris and Sue.
