We are delighted to announce that itemedical will join SSG as a dedicated business unit, following an acquisition by our parent company, Halma.
About itemedical
Founded in 2000 by two ICU nurses, itemedical has built a strong reputation for developing medically certified software that brings together data and alarms from multiple medical devices at the patient bedside.
Their platform collects and consolidates data and alarms from a wide range of medical devices across the hospital. Through smart filtering and safe, rule-based alarm delays, it helps prioritise clinically relevant alarms and enables clinical teams to quickly focus on the situations that require attention.
By reducing clinically irrelevant alarms and minimising disruption, itemedical helps clinicians respond faster to the alarms that matter most. This improves workflow efficiency, creates a safer and quieter care environment, and supports better patient care.
The system also integrates seamlessly with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, supporting accurate, efficient documentation and streamlining clinical processes.
Headquartered in the Netherlands, itemedical currently operates across the Netherlands and Belgium. They have significant potential for further expansion both within their existing markets and internationally.

A Strong Strategic and Cultural Fit for SSG and itemedical
SSG and itemedical have been building a close partnership over the past 12 months. During this time, itemedical’s technology has been showcased in our Technology Centre and introduced to our customer base. We are already collaborating on a range of integrated solutions across several hospital trusts in the UK and internationally.
This partnership has demonstrated a clear alignment in technology, vision and culture, with both companies bringing similar values and complementary skill sets. This strong fit makes the acquisition a natural next step.
“Together, SSG and itemedical will continue to invest in innovation, people and technology, supporting long-term growth and delivering meaningful improvements in patient safety and clinical workflow efficiency.
Steve Smith (Managing Director of SSG)
We’re excited about this next chapter and the opportunities it brings for our customers, partners and teams.”
What This Means
As part of SSG’s nurse call digital ecosystem, itemedical will be well positioned to accelerate its expansion across the UK and international markets. By remaining an independent business with its own management team, it will continue to offer a vendor‑neutral platform that integrates across a wide range of devices and systems.
