Medical Bedhead Lighting
Our Modus bedhead lighting solutions are compliant with the CIBSE 2008 Hospital Lighting Guide (LG2) and are specially designed for use in hospital wards.
Available for wall mounting, or integral to the trunking unit, the sleek design sees high performance LEDs incorporated into an extruded aluminium body to provide both up and down lighting in the patient bed area, promoting a tranquil environment.
LEDs can be integrated with circadian rhythms and other technologies, opening up opportunities for colour washing and colour mixing, particularly with RGB (Red, Green and Blue) LEDs, which can help to create an environment that is conducive to patient well-being and recovery.
A switching facility – controlled through the patient hand unit for ease of operation – provides on/off functionality. Bed light control buttons on the hand unit can also be programmed to allow variable dimming. Giving patients control of their own lighting environment and allowing them to make choices in what can often feel an unfamiliar environment.
For ease of staff use, the lighting units can also be controlled from switches incorporated into the bedhead services trunking. Units are designed for easy cleaning, with a curved profile and sloping top to discourage use as a shelf and to help minimise dust build-up.
When whole life costs are taken into account, LED lighting is a much more sustainable and cost-effective solution.
The advantages of using LED lighting in healthcare establishments are manifold and include:
- Longer life expectancy
- Significantly lower costs associated with maintenance and replacement
- Energy efficiency
- Greater brightness and light intensity
- Light uniformity along the length of the unit
- Improved reliability
- Instant illumination
- Ability to direct light
