Project Engineer – Moorfields, Central London
SSG are looking for a project engineer based in and around the London/Home counties area with potential to manage projects further south if required. Reporting to the Project Manager, assist in leading a Subcontract Delivery Team to develop and deliver a programme on Nurse Call, Fire Alarm or Custodial projects.
The ability to manage and take responsibility for SSG subcontractors whilst collaborating with other Project Managers from other trades, and associated teams to realise the project delivery target. Some ability to assist in forecasting revenue, margin, HSE&Q and ensure a positive client experience.
Assist the Project Manager in delivering the Pre-Construction and Construction related processes required to satisfactorily deliver site-based project works.
Support the Project Manager with site meetings and liaise with all relevant parties including but not limited to Operations Managers, Estates Managers, clients, trade contractors and other third parties including departments to agree acceptable quality and timing of the delivery of works. Ensuring access is available and the planned works do not compromise day to day operations and that works are delivered in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
Plan, manage and monitor site progress, under the guidance of the project manager. Oversee subcontractors, labour and material requirements for the contract and support Project the team with matters primarily relating to on-site activities.
Key responsibilities:
- Understand the contractual obligations required by SSG and work effectively with the Project manager and the commercial lead to protect SSG’s contractual position.
- Build strong partnerships with supply partners to bring technical understanding and expectations our customers whilst ensuring effective delivery of solutions that meet quality expectations.
Skills/Experience:
- Recognised Building Services industry or electrical experience
- Proven record of establishing effective relationships at all levels.
- Able to deliver in a collaborative manner with mixed client / consultant / supplier / internal team base.
- Professional attitude, with the ability to demonstrate potential strong leadership qualities and good communication skills, to influence positive outcomes.
- Commercially astute; with experience or understanding of commercial management.
- Experience in identifying and realising opportunities.
- An OND/ ONC in a relevant subject is desirable, although the right applicant can expect SSG support to attend college and gain an Electrical ONC qualification as part of his training, prior to receiving full product and Fire alarm systems training
- Experience using Microsoft Project and good excel skills or the ability to learn.
