Bring your designs to life, join us as a CAD Engineer

Job Description:

Provide high-quality design and accurate wiring diagrams/design drawings for the company’s full product range. Wiring diagrams will incorporate full planning system software.

Main Responsibilities: 

  • Review specifications, quotes, room data sheets etc.
  • Clarify responsibilities and understand basic contractual elements.
  • Understand the legislative requirements and standards applicable to provide a compliant and comprehensive design.
  • Liaise with customers and other parties (in-house and external) to forge a mutually acceptable agreed route.
  • Confirm proposals in comprehensive correspondence & design statements.
  • Confirm and negotiate price variations.
  • Be responsive to ongoing demands and correspondence.
  • Produce high-quality and accurate drawings covering the company’s full product range.
  • Ability to produce and understand software elements to allow the operational part of the system to work.
  • Have a clear understanding of the company’s product range.
  • Be able to complete all tasks unaided.
  • Have a good understanding of contractual correspondence & matters.
  • Be confident and able to attend site visits & meetings, without assistance from a senior engineer.
  • Take on responsibility for major projects.
  • Be confident to assist others within the department/senior engineer.
  • Be able to step up in the absence of the supervisor to cover certain duties of / senior engineer.
  • Input into and help with improving the quality and service within the area.
  • Be able to work under pressure, prioritising workload to meet ongoing demand and more urgent demand with issues on site
  • Train new starters and colleagues to support the department.
  • Be prepared to work flexible hours to cover out-of-hours work such as weekends or early evenings.
  • Have a high regard and standard for delivering customer service.

Experience:

  • English/Maths at GCSE level or equivalent
  • CAD experience / qualifications – utilise AUTOCAD
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced business under pressure to set deadlines.
  • Good communication skills, able to converse with a diverse range of people ranging from customers to subcontractors and other trades.
