Codemlon™ Serves more acute hospital wards in the UK than any other nurse call system
The demands placed on patient-to-staff and staff-to-staff communication during the busy PFI build period transformed the humble nurse call system beyond recognition. It was at this time that Static Systems Group introduced the Codemlon™ nurse call system.
More technically advanced than any other system available at the time, Codemlon™ provided the ease of installation, flexibility and future-proofing healthcare teams were looking for.
As a result, Codemlon™ became the preferred nurse call solution for the majority of acute healthcare setting, and is still a popular choice today.
The Codemlon™ system has continued to be developed over time and it is now one of the most feature-rich nurse call solutions available.
A press release issued at the time of product launch outlines the reasons why the system generated such interest.
Flexibility - The key to Codemlon™ nurse call system
The new site-programmable nurse call system which is easy to install, maintain and upgrade, has been designed to provide maximum operational flexibility in today’s fast moving healthcare environment – a feature which is attracting the attention of major NHS Trusts and Private Finance Initiative developers.
Codemlon™ is the company’s new generation nurse call system developed using Echelon LONWORKS’® well proven and established protocol already favoured as the principal wiring topology within many hospitals.
It has the primary function of providing patients with a means of alerting staff whilst allowing optional facilities such as voice communication and nurse presence to be incorporated and the system of operation to be tailored to specific ward requirements – almost without limitation.
The system uses industry standard UTP CAT 5 data cable; with call and indicating units being connected to the nurse call network at any convenient point within the ward. Its site programmable capability allows all system modifications and upgrades to be carried out using Static Systems' own windows-based programming package.
Codemlon™ is designed for low power consumption and a single power supply unit can serve more than one ward or building sector. Long-life LEDs reduce maintenance and Codemlon™ is designed to be interoperable with other LONWORKS® based building management systems as well as Static Systems’ local positioning system offering automatic nurse presence, personnel attack alarm, patient flow and wandering patient monitoring and access control.
Codemlon™ represents not only a new generation in nurse call systems but also a springboard for a wide variety of other applications within the healthcare market worldwide.
In common with other Static Systems' products, Codemlon™ has evolved from a combination of proven technology based on sound engineering principles and careful observation of the changing needs of healthcare providers and their patients. By addressing these needs Static Systems is able to offer solutions to a wider group of specifiers using exactly the same equipment to meet their differing requirements.
