Static Systems launches its Design & Innovation Centre

Static Systems Group’s initiative to create a groundbreaking Design and Innovation Centre (D&IC), reached a pivotal point today (17th September 2015) as the centre piece - a full size replica four bed bay, based upon one of the ProCure 21+ Repeatable Ward designs - was opened.

To mark the occasion, Static also invited more than 200 of its employees to take part in a personal and comprehensive nine point health check.

Located at Static Systems’ headquarters near Wolverhampton, the D&IC, is the first of its kind in the UK and is set to become a valuable asset and generate considerable interest from a wide range of healthcare professionals including clinicians, healthcare planners and design & construction specialists.

Inspired by the acclaimed success of an existing four bed ward at Wombourne that has been widely used for training and education for over 10 years, Static Systems saw an opportunity to showcase one of the new acute wards that have been developed by health planners, architects, design managers, cost consultants and specialist suppliers, as part of a ProCure 21+ led initiative to reduce costs through standardisation and repeatable design.

Announcing the new D&IC, Static Systems’ Marketing Director Phil Wade said: “Building the four bed hospital ward here at our premises in Wombourne to designs approved by the Department of Health, has certainly created interest among many interest groups. The D&IC including the ward is available as a convenient drop in facility. We also are committed to provide our own workforce and staff with healthcare and wellbeing support and thought the opening of the new facility should coincide with our employee health check.

“Our previous four bed ward at Static Systems was universally praised and became a vital ingredient in helping our clients to design and choose the most suitable bedhead services solutions for their projects,” said Phil Wade.

Static Systems has been encouraged by the support from a number of specialist suppliers who have contributed by the provision of materials and services in the construction of the ward.  “It was clear that there was no central funding available for a mock up of this type, so we thought we would take the initiative.

“We are delighted with the enthusiastic response and support we have received from our industry partners.

“Whilst this facility will benefit us and our customers, we will be actively encouraging other interest groups, partnering suppliers and organisations to visit, gain knowledge and make full use of our new facility,” explained Phil Wade.
